Springtown council votes to vacate street

SPRINGTOWN -- A public hearing regarding the closing of an alley and portions of certain Springtown streets was held prior to the regularly scheduled town meeting on March 8. And, following the hearing, the council voted 3-0 (with Karee Barrett and Linda Taylor abstaining because of personal involvement in the petition) to approve an ordinance vacating the street and alleyways in question.

The matter will be brought back at subsequent meetings for its second and third readings.

It was reported that a technician examining the town's storm sirens believes the sirens need a battery replacement. The council was in agreement that a more expensive but longer lasting battery was the favorable option.

Alderman Chuck Guess presented his letter of resignation to the council.
