Gentry girls advance to state soccer finals

GENTRY --The Gentry High School girls' soccer team has advanced to the state finals and is scheduled to play Central Arkansas Christian in the 4A championship game at 2 p.m. Saturday on Razorback Field in Fayetteville.

In state tournament play last week, Gentry defeated Southside, 6-0, on May 12. Amber Ellis and Ana Linch each kicked in three goals. Assisting with goals were Ana Linch, Amber Ellis, Haley Borgeteien-James and Erika Magana.

The Lady Pioneers defeated Pulaski Robinson, 7-1, on May 13. Amber Ellis had three goals and two assists. Ana Linch had two goals and two assists. Haley Hays and Karina Appelrath had one goal each, Haley Borgeteien-James had one assist.

Against Heber Springs on May 14, Gentry came away with a 5-0 victory. Ana Linch had three goals. Amber Ellis had four assists. Madison Ward and Haley Hays had one goal each.

The final was moved to Saturday at 2 p.m. because of Siloam Springs graduation on Saturday.
