Gentry, Gravette Middle Schools earn monetary rewards

— Two west-side schools - Gentry Middle School and Gravette Middle School - received monetary awards due to student performance under Arkansas Code §6-15-2107, which authorizes rewards in an amount up to $100 per student who attends a public school or public charter school in the top 5 percent of all Arkansas public schools in student performance or student academic growth, which includes high school graduation rates for secondary schools under criteria set forth by rule of the State Board of Education.

Up to $50 per student enrolled is awarded to public schools or public charter schools between the top 5 percent and the next 5 percent (schools in the top 6-10 percent) of all public schools in Arkansas in student performance or student academic growth, which includes high school graduation rates for secondary schools under criteria set forth by rule of the State Board of Education.

Both Gentry Middle School and Gravette Middle School qualified within the top 5 and the top 10 percent of Arkansas Public Schools for their student performance and academic growth.

As a result, Gravette Middle School received a total of $64,617.21 in additional funds which can be used for educational materials, technology or teacher pay. Gentry received $47,918.90.

Gentry Middle School staff opted to purchase new laptop computers for its teachers, a cart of laptops for student use and to spend the remaining $9,000 for faculty and staff bonuses.

Gravette Middle School chose to give stipends to the staff and purchase 30 ChromeBooks and a cart for Gravette Middle School.
