Pioneers down Highlanders in first home game of season

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers had no trouble handling the Lady Highlanders of Eureka Springs when the two teams met at Gentry High School on Friday night. The Gentry girls grabbed an early lead, behind the shooting of Eden Hosteter, a Gentry senior who scored 14 points in the first quarter.

Hannah Boss and Chastery Fuamatu also were high scorers in the game. When the final buzzer sounded, the Gentry girls had a big win, 63-16.

On the boys' side, it looked like the Pioneers might have trouble bringing down the Highlanders on Friday night in the Gentry High School gym, with the Highlanders grabbing an early lead by the end of the first, 21-18. But the Pioneers tied things up at 31 each by the half and began to pull away in the second half of the game, to pick up a 69-59 victory in their first game of the season.

JV Games

Gentry's junior girls lost to Eureka Springs, 41-26. The junior boys won, 40-19.
