Maysville EH Club News

The Maysville EH Club met Nov. 17 for lunch at the Maysville Handi Stop before going to the Community Building for its monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by president Orpha Wardlaw at 12:45. Vice president Jane Wilber welcomed members and guests Fannie Yoder and Joseph. The club sang Turkey Trouble led by Melinda Crawley. Inspiration was a Maysville memory read by Orpha.

The lesson was given by Jane Wilber on frozen assets-freeze ahead meals. She talked about preparing and seasoning food before freezing so it is all ready to cook when it is needed. She also talked about safety precautions when thawing, reheating and storing food.

Eye opener given by Orpha was to place meatloaf in freezer bag and flatten for better storage and faster thawing.

Cultural art given by Jane was to paint a Christmas tree on a wooden pallet, then decorate with lights, etc.

Gwen Singleton, club secretary, called the roll, which was answered by telling of favorite casseroles to freeze. Minutes were read and a financial report given.

Orpha reminded the club of County Council on November 18 and that the club has kitchen duty.

Volunteer hours and attendance records were turned in.

There was a short discussion on the Community Thanksgiving dinner. There were 105 in attendance.

Robin Reichardt gave a report on the cultural art workshop and showed some items offered.

Orpha expressed appreciation to Carol Loux and Barbara Whisenant for collecting the Best Choice labels for the club. The club welcomes any donations of these labels because it redeems them for cash.

Orpha stated the need to work on the new rules and bylaws.

The club discussed the Christmas Party, which will be at the home of Beverly Whiteside on December 15. There will be a homemade ornament exchange. Beverly asked members to bring appetizers and desserts.

Meeting was adjourned with the benediction.
