— With leaves covering the ground like a warm blanket and a chill in the air, it was time once again to celebrate the fall harvest; and Decatur Northside Elementary School in Decatur celebrated the harvest in style with its annual Fall Festival on Nov. 18.

The event was sponsored by the Decatur Parent Teacher Organization and the Decatur School District. More than 250 students, teachers, family members and friends browsed through the many activities on hand in the facility.

The classrooms and hallways were packed with 20 different carnival-type games, complete with prizes for the winners. Some of the games included a pint-size Frisbee Golf hole with miniature Frisbees, a duck pond, Wheel of Fortune, ring toss and a six-pin inflatable bowling set. The roustabouts overseeing each of these games were members of the Decatur High School Cheerleaders.

An auction was held at the end of the event to raise money for several PTO projects to purchase equipment and supplies for the Decatur School District. More than 50 items were donated to the PTO by local businesses and members of the Decatur community.

The chill in the air did not keep festival goers from enjoying the many activities offered at this year's Fall Festival. In the end, those attending this event left Northside Elementary with a warm heart and a big smile.
