— New officers for the Gravette Kiwanis Club were installed at the club's annual banquet held Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Members and guests enjoyed a banquet meal of mixed-green salad, roast beef, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, green beans, rolls and coconut-cream dessert prepared and served by the Center staff.

Dan Yates, past district governor and new lieutenant governor of Mo-Ark district Kiwanis, introduced members of the board of directors and presented each one with a pin. Board members are Patrick Hall, Steve Huckriede, Dr. Nancy Jones, Bob Kelley, Zane Vanderpool and Yates. Kelley was also presented a special pin for his many years of serving as chairman of the Gravette Day pancake breakfast project.

Outgoing president, Richard Page, was recognized by Yates, who presented him with a special engraved gavel commemorating his year of service as president.

Lavon Stark, incoming president, said she was looking forward to the coming year and told her goals for the year. These include gaining five new members and keeping the current ones, getting more publicity for the club and having two social events during the year.

The installation of officers completed the evening's program. New officers, installed by Yates, are Lavon Stark, president; Brenda Yates, secretary; and Malcolm Winters, treasurer. President-elect Jay Chalk was unable to attend.

Patrick Hall provided musical entertainment to end the evening. Hall played the piano and sang "Hey Jude"; the love song "Jessie," which he said was one of his father's favorite songs; and "Moon Dance" by Van Morrison.

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds regular breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. every Friday in the cafeteria at Ozarks Community Hospital.
