It's homecoming week in Gentry

GENTRY -- It's homecoming week in Gentry and the week includes a number of special events for the entire community, including a powderpuff football game today and a parade on Friday.

The annual powder puff football game is set for 1 p.m. today in Pioneer Stadium, weather permitting. Teams from the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes will compete for the championship.

Then, on Friday, a homecoming pep rally is set for 10:30 a.m. in Pioneer Stadium (again, weather permitting). The annual homecoming parade is set to begin at 1 p.m. The parade will line up behind Gentry High School and in the student parking lot at 12:30 p.m. and will travel down Pioneer Lane and Main Street before students and floats return to the high school.

Homecoming night begins with coronation ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, in Pioneer Stadium, and the football game against Huntsville begins at 7 p.m.

Senior maids vying for the homecoming queen crown are: Rebecca Brown, Amber Ellis, Xitlali Estrada, Sidney Kinser, Lily Murphy and Yuliana Stasiv. Junior maids are: Abby Asencio, Jennifer Carrera and Abi Powlowski. Sophomore maids are: Whitly Cochran, Laney Fredrick and Cali Stevens. Freshman maids are: Falyn Cordiero, Ariel Nix and Meledy Owens. Kindergarten mascots are Afton Coones, Trevor Fox and Easton Shelley.
