Gentry starts strong but falls in final quarter

GENTRY -- After homecoming ceremonies on Friday, the Gentry Pioneers had the upper hand, 8-6, at the half and were tied at 14 apiece with the visiting Huntsville Eagles after three quarters of play, but the Eagles dominated the final quarter and took home a 28-14 win.

Gentry quarterback Jon Faulkenberry and Gentry wide receiver and running back Cole Cripps carried the ball across the goal line for Gentry's two touchdowns in the game. Cripps also carried in Gentry's two-point conversion in the game.

Faulkenberry had 145 rushing yards in the game. Hunter Butler had 33. Myles McFerron had 28 rushing yards and another seven as a receiver. Cripps had 22 rushing yards, 30 passing yards as a receiver and another 32 on kick returns. Devin Ellis had 39 on kick returns.

Dylan Rayburn had four solo tackles and another three assists. Tanner Christie and Dylan Kilgore had three solos apiece and eight and six assists, respectively. Garrett Hays and Sean Pierce each had 13 assists.

On Friday, the Pioneers travel to Shiloh Christian in Springdale to take on the Saints. Game time is 7 p.m.
