Bulldogs fall short as Rebels take their first conference victory

DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldogs traveled to Coal Hill Oct. 14 to take on the Westside Rebels in a 2A-4 conference matchup at Rebel Stadium.

Both the Rebels and the Bulldogs came into the game with a 0 and 3 conference record, hoping for their first victory. Both teams, along with Western Yell County, are tied for sixth place in the conference race with no wins going into this week's match ups.

It was a tough game for the Bulldogs, who played well during the entire game. Leng Lee was responsible for 20 of the Bulldogs' 22 points, with three touchdowns and a conversion. But it would not be enough as the Rebels outscored them by one touchdown for their first conference victory, 28 to 22.

Magazine, which posted its first conference victory against Decatur Sept. 30, is now tied with Westside for fifth place, while Decatur and Western Yell County are tied for sixth.

The Bulldogs will play the Western Yell County Wolverines at Bulldog Stadium in Decatur Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. This will be homecoming for the Decatur Bulldogs.

A full slate of events is scheduled prior to the game. The Homecoming parade will begin at 1 p.m. in downtown Decatur. A pep rally at Peterson Gym is expected to begin at the conclusion of the parade (around 2:15 p.m.). The Homecoming queen and king will be crowned at 6:30 p.m.
