GENTRY -- Audra Weathers, Alex Savage, Jennifer Adams, Haylee Pyburn, Jonathan Brinkley, Tim Swearingen, Colton Little, Hunter Mills, Andrew Reynoso and Ben Nelson qualified or are alternates to sing in the all-region choir. The Gentry choir students auditioned at Harrison on Oct. 8.

The Gentry students competed against approximately 460 students from the region for a spot in the all-region choir. The audition is a blind solo, making it difficult for students to prepare ahead of time. Gentry had seven students make the all-region choir and three really close alternates, with six students qualifying to audition at the state level in February (those qualifying for chairs 1-12 in the all-region choir qualify for all-state auditions).

Qualifying from Gentry were: Soprano 1 - Jennifer Adams, 12th chair; Soprano 2 - Haylee Pyburn, second alternate - 27th chair; Alto 1 - Alex Savage, third chair; Alto 2 - Audra Weathers, second chair; Tenor 1 - Ben Nelson, first alternate, 22nd chair; Tenor 2 - Colton Little, fourth chair; Hunter Mills, seventh chair, and Andrew Reynoso, 11th chair; Bass 1 - Tim Swearingen, 22nd chair; Jonathan Brinkley, first alternate, 25th chair.

"I am so proud of all my students for auditioning and trying, but especially these students who made the choir," said Casey Jones, choir director for Gentry High School and Middle School.
