EAST Night Out event set for Thursday

Parents and the public are invited to Gentry Primary School between 6 and 8 p.m. for an EAST Night Out, showing the new EAST lab and providing information on the new program for students in the intermediate and primary schools.

Work day, meeting set at Springtown Cemetery

The annual workday and business meeting for Springtown Cemetery is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, starting at 9 a.m. Community members will gather at the Springtown Cemetery on Arkansas Highway 12 for fall cleanup activities, followed by the business meeting. All those who have loved ones buried there, as well as youth, service and church groups, are welcome to participate a little or a lot. Refreshments will be served. Come prepared for outdoor work with gloves, rakes and trash bags. This beautiful and historic resting place is maintained by volunteers. The rain date is the following week at the same time.

Hiwasse Fall Festival

The annual Hiwasse Fall Festival and trunk or treat will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 13680 Firehouse Lane. Hot dogs, chips and a drink will be served for $5 and the OK Country Band will play. Inflatables will be set up and children may also paint pumpkins. A chili cook off will be held, with a $50 prize for the winning pot of chili. Tasters may pay $1 to purchase samples and vote for their favorite entry. Anyone wishing to enter the chili cook off should call 479-531-0472. A classic car show will be held. Anyone wishing to enter the car show should call 479-787-9661 for entry details. Area vendors will have booths set up. Anyone desiring booth space or wanting to participate in the trunk or treat event should call 479-721-2143.

Family Fall Festival planned at Heritage Baptist Church

Heritage Baptist Church will hold a Family Fall Festival for children, ages birth to sixth grade, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Families and children are invited to walk through the festival of fun and games. They are guaranteed to take home a bag of goodies. Games, cake walks, face painting, food and much more are planned. Families are urged to come and enjoy the fun and excitement, but no scary costumes, please.

Womack's mobile office to be at Gentry Chamber office

The mobile office of U.S. Congressman Steve Womack will be at the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office, 212 East Main Street, in Gentry, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 20. Aides to Womack will be available to address needs and concerns.

Pajama Jam in Gravette to aid Children's Shelter

Numerous Gravette Main Street businesses are hosting a Pajama Jam to benefit the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. The goal, whether through donations or sponsorships, is to deliver as many pajamas as possible to the shelter. The public is invited to the Pajama Jam to enjoy a night of music and fun. The Pajama Jam will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 22. Raffle tickets will be available (one for $5 or five for $20) for various prizes and gift certificates from local businesses. Pajama donations (sizes infant to teen) must be new and in original packaging. Participants are encouraged to come in their G-rated pajamas.

Octoberfest Pageants coming up

Miss Octoberfest Pageants will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Gentry High School Auditorium. The pageants are sponsored by the Gentry Junior High Cheerleaders. The pageants are open to any and all participants, with age divisions from 0 months to 18 years, including divisions for boys from 0 months to 6 years of age. Gravette Baseball-Softball League to hold board elections

An election meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, at the Arvest Bank Conference Room in Gravette. Various board positions are open for the upcoming 2017 season. Gravette baseball and softball signups coming in January

Online player registration for the 2017 season will be available on Jan. 1 at www.leaguelineup.com/gravette. Coach and umpire applications may also be submitted online at that time. Additional registration details will be posted on the website then as well.

Leading Ladies Brunch

The Women's Ministry of the First Assembly of God Church in Gravette will host a "Stepping Out In Faith" leading ladies brunch from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the church, 1108 West Main St., in Gravette. Judy Moore will be guest speaker. No registration fee is charged but an offering will be taken. All ladies are invited to come enjoy fun, free food, fellowship and God's Word.

Trick or Treat on Main Street set for Oct. 31

The annual Trick or Treat on Main Street event in Gentry is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Children in costumes will be able to receive candies and treats from Gentry business owners along Main Street at the event.

Lions Club meetings held in Gravette and Gentry

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas 59 North in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Tired Iron Club to meet

Tired Iron of the Ozarks antique engine and tractor club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the club's showgrounds, located at 13344 Taylor Orchard Road in Gentry. For more information, visit the club's website at www.tiredironoftheozarks.org.

Gravette Kiwanis Club plans breakfast meetings

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services planned

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW meetings first Tuesday of month

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
