GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers came close to winning in the first set but fell to the visiting Lady Lions of Gravette in three straight sets on Thursday night, 25-23, 25-9 and 25-14, giving Gravette the final win of the regular season.

The Gentry girls played a strong first set and held the lead for much of the game. Hannah Boss, Yuliana Stasiv and Chastery Fuamatu blocked numerous Gravette kill attempts and the Lady Pioneers were in a position to win. But then the Lady Lions began to get their game together and came from behind to win the set.

Gravette dominated the next two sets, with kills from Stephanie Pinter, Misa Satchel, Allie Callahan and Brooklyn Lykins.

The Gravette girls lost in a home match against Shiloh Christian on Oct. 11, 3-0. Set scores were 25-12, 25-8 and 25-14 against the Lady Saints, who were undefeated this year in conference play.

The Lady Lions finished their regular season, 9-9 overall and 9-5 in conference play.

Gentry defeated Lincoln in three straight sets on Oct. 11 (set scores were not available at press time). The Lady Pioneers finished their season, 3-11 in conference and 4-16 overall.

Both teams were set to play in the conference tournament at Pea Ridge this week.
