Gentry Band selling Blue & Gold Sausage
The Gentry Junior High and High School Bands will be selling Blue & Gold sausage, bacon and chicken from Sept. 19 to 29. Prices are: 2 1/2 pound roll of sausage - $7 per roll, 3 1/2 pound package of thick sliced bacon - $17 per package, and 5 pound bag of chicken strips - $21 per bag.
Volunteer opportunity to beautify Gentry
In observance of the first annual Keep Gentry Beautiful cleanup day, volunteers are needed to help with the cleanup of a property in the 100 block of N. Nelson. Volunteers will meet there at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, and work until the job is done. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, shovels, rakes and other tools to help in the cleanup. The event is being sponsored by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce in connection with the city and with the Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful campaigns.
Pickin' Time on 59 is coming up
Pickin' Time on 59 is coming up on Oct. 6, 7 and 8. The event will feature yard and garage sales along Arkansas Highway 59 and in adjoining communities between Siloam Springs and Sulphur Springs. The three-day event will feature yard-sale items, antiques and collectibles. More information and space to set up along the highway is available by contacting the chambers of commerce in Siloam Springs, Gentry, Decatur, Gravette and Sulphur Springs. In some cities, exemptions are being made for permits and/or fees for yard and garage sales. Participants may be able to have their sales listed on fliers and publications promoting sales by contacting their local Chamber offices.
Glow Ride set for Oct. 15th
The first annual Bicycle Glow Ride in Gentry is being planned for Saturday, Oct. 15. Participants should bring their bicycles and meet in the Gentry City Park at 6 p.m. on the 15th. Free glow sticks will be provided to participants. The ride through the park and around town (roughly 4 miles) begins at 7 p.m. Prizes willbe awarded to the best-decorated bicycles. Participation in the event is free.
Emerson Electric employees to hold picnic
Former employees of Emerson Electric will hold their annual reunion and picnic from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Lake Avalon pavilion in Bella Vista. FFA holds Blue & Gold meat sale
Decatur Future Farmers of America is now taking orders for its annual Blue & Gold meat sale until Sept. 26. Products include a 2 1/2-pound package of sausage for $7, a 3 1/2-pound package of bacon for $17, and 5-pound package of breaded chicken fritters for $21. Quilting Class
A class for area quilters and crafters will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St., S.W., in Gravette. Instructions will be given on a quilt block and a "show and tell" session will be held. Please bring finished projects or works in progress and a snack to share.
Lions Club Yard Sale
The Gravette Lions Club will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 17, at Old Town Park. They are accepting donations of items to offer at the sale or individuals may set up a table free of charge and sell their merchandise, donating 10 percent of their sales to the Lions at the end of the sale. Items valued at over $100 may be sold on consignment with the club receiving 15 percent of the sale price. Several high quality items have already been donated including a couple of guitars, a 5- string banjo, framed and unframed art, old matted Audubon prints, books, a Pentax 110 camera and lenses and a 4 x 5 press camera. Anyone having items to donate for the sale may call Jeff at 479-787-1068 or just bring them to the park on Saturday morning. All proceeds will go to finance Lions service projects in the community, including providing free eye exams and glasses to persons in need.
NAGS to meet Sept. 26
The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 South Main, Bentonville. Monte Harris from the Rogers Historical Museum will present the program, "Women of the Loom," telling the stories of the 1860's handwoven coverlets now in the museum collection. She has been in charge of the adult education program for 18 years and her job also includes oral histories, bus tours and special local history programs for schools. Highfill breakfast set first Saturday of each quarter

Gravette farmers' market open Saturdays
Gravette farmers' market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Old Town Park. Offerings include locally-grown fruits and vegetables, beef and pork, eggs, a variety of plants, baked goods, jams and jellies. Local crafts are also featured. Market vendors set up booths in the covered pavilion at the park.
Gentry farmers' market open three days a week
The farmers' market in Gentry is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the south side (along Arkansas 12) parking area of Gentry City Park. Farmers may set up between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Decatur farmers' market open on Thursdays
The Decatur Farmers' Market will continue operations at the Decatur Coop True Value Hardware store parking lot every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Homegrown fruits and vegetables, canned goods and handmade crafts are available for purchase. Share the Harvest Food Pantry
Share the Harvest Food Pantry, located within Harvest Baptist Church in Gravette, is now open an additional day of the month. In addition to being open every Thursday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m., the pantry will also serve clients every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clients are allowed to receive emergency food supplies one time per calendar month and are encouraged to use the additional Saturday to ease the burden of the pantry's already busy Thursdays. Share the Harvest Food Pantry is a ministry of Harvest Baptist Church, located at 11036 N. Hwy. 59 in Gravette (two miles south of Gravette on Arkansas Highway 59). A free food distribution is held the first Saturday of each month at the Maysville Bible Church, Arkansas 72 and Cunningham, in Maysville. Anyone who is in need of food is welcome to attend.
Decatur food pantry
open twice a month
Decatur United Methodist Church has a community food pantry open the first and third Thursday of each month. The only requirement for the pantry is that one live in the 72722 zip code area. An identification and a piece of mail showing one's residence in the Decatur area are required. A USDA commodity program is available which is income-based. Those wishing to do so can fill out an application to see if they qualify.
Lions Club meetings held in Gravette and Gentry
Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas 59 North in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.
Gravette Kiwanis Club plans breakfast meetings
The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.
Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month
Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn.
