Lady Pioneers come up short in play last week

GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers fell in two matches last week, on Tuesday to Elkins and on Thursday to Shiloh Christian, putting them at one and three in conference play and two and four overall.

Shiloh stopped the Gentry girls in three straight sets -- 25-10, 25-10 and 25-14 -- but it looked like Gentry was going to come back from a two-match deficit when the Lady Elks visited on Tuesday. Having lost the first two, 25-22 and 25-16, Gentry fought back and won the next two, 25-20 and 25-21. But in a close final set, Elkins finally got the upper hand and took the set and the match, 18-16.

The Lady Pioneers were scheduled to take on the Lady Tigers from Prairie Grove after press time on Tuesday and the Lady Wolves from Lincoln on Thursday.
