Pajama Jam in Gravette to aid Children's Shelter

Numerous Gravette Main Street businesses are hosting a Pajama Jam to benefit the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. The goal, whether through donations or sponsorships, is to deliver as many pajamas as possible to the shelter. The public is invited to the Pajama Jam to enjoy a night of music and fun. The Pajama Jam will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 22. Raffle tickets will be available (one for $5 or five for $20) for various prizes and gift certificates from local businesses. Pajama donations (sizes infant to teen) must be new and in original packaging. Participants are encouraged to come in their G-rated pajamas.

Decatur plans cemetery work day

Volunteers are needed for a Decatur Cemetery workday from 8 a.m. until noon on Oct. 1, at the cemetery next to Roller Avenue in Decatur. For more information, contact the Decatur city office at 479-752-3912.

Gentry Band selling Blue & Gold Sausage

The Gentry Junior High and High School Bands will be selling Blue & Gold sausage, bacon and chicken through Sept. 29. To order, contact Crystal Wood at 479-233-9021 or Cindy Philpott at 479-531-2723. Late orders cannot be accepted. The product will be in the week of Oct. 10. Prices are: 2½-pound roll of sausage -- $7 per roll, 3½ pound package of thick sliced bacon -- $17 per package, and 5-pound bag of chicken strips -- $21 per bag.

Crafts and More Fair set

A Crafts and More Fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8, in the gym at the Maysville community building. Everyone is invited to come shop and enjoy some chili or hot dogs at the snack bar. Some booth space is still available for only $10. Call Robin at 479-822-3052 evenings for more information.

Pickin' Time on 59 coming up Oct. 6-8

Pickin' Time on 59 is coming up on Oct. 6-8. The event will feature yard and garage sales along Arkansas Highway 59 and in adjoining communities between Siloam Springs and Sulphur Springs. The three-day event will feature yard-sale items, antiques and collectibles. More information and space to set up along the highway is available by contacting the chambers of commerce in Siloam Springs, Gentry, Decatur, Gravette and Sulphur Springs. In some cities, exemptions are being made for permits and/or fees for yard and garage sales. Participants may be able to have their sales listed on fliers and publications promoting sales by contacting their local Chamber offices. A map will be made available at the 59 pickin' spots that will direct people to the sales that are not on Highway 59 proper. Glow Ride scheduled for Oct. 15 in Gentry

The first annual Bicycle Glow Ride in Gentry is being planned for Saturday, Oct. 15. Participants should bring their bicycles and meet in the Gentry City Park at 6 p.m. on the 15th. Free glow sticks will be provided to participants. The ride through the park and around town (roughly 4 miles) begins at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the best-decorated bicycles. Participation in the event is free.

Highfill breakfast set first Saturday of each quarter

First Baptist Church of Highfill will hold a men's fellowship breakfast on the first Saturday of each quarter at 8 a.m. All adult and youth men are welcome. For information, call 479-233-0242.

Lions Club meetings held in Gravette and Gentry

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas 59 North in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis Club plans breakfast meetings

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services planned

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW meetings first Tuesday of month

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
