The rising of the sap and greening of the grass makes me feel good

Been informed about five minutes ago that I am the winner of a huge amount of cash! I won the jackpot over several thousand other folks that entered and I will get the money as soon as I can get the money order for $1,200 to pay for the shipping and taxes that I will incur by receiving the cash! I have the address to send the money to, not anywhere local, but they are just waiting to send my money. How fortunate am I?

I have had our telephone close to my recliner for years. I answer if I am in the house and sitting in that chair. Otherwise, I do not answer, and I am telling the truth, it is never for me! I am not up to date on all the tech stuff and my close relative says not to ever answer if you don't know the number, at least the area code. I don't even look to see the number. I never would have won if I had paid attention to her! Well enough for me and, of course, a scam, but I sorta wish I could take advantage of a $1,200 investment and come out smelling like new thousand dollar bills!

Rain has turned the countryside into green pastures and trees putting out leaves -- such a relief to see after a few months of brown. Green grass and fat cattle make for a beautiful sight. Drove to the county seat this morning and took a dirt-road shortcut coming home. What a sight it was for winter-weary eyes to see! The sun will take a couple of days to cook the leaves clear out on the limbs, but what a nice drive!

Our place was nice too. The calves are bucking and growing, and the cows are filling out on the little short grass they can find. We are scheduled to begin the spring work about daylight in the morning. I don't dread the work; I just dread the way my body feels after the first 12 to 14 hours. I think the covered working space will help that, too. Maybe we won't have to wrestle many head and things will roll along smoothly. Yes, tongue in cheek!

I aimed to get one more feller for work -- tried to find someone who could ride and rope -- but to no avail. Good thing we have a grand who thinks he will be sufficient. He sure likes to twirl a loop, and I suspect he will do fine. He sets a horse mighty fine.

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, the rising of the sap and greening of the grass makes me feel good and, with Easter in the near future, I am reminded that all will be fine. I hope all you fellers are checking your place for thistles and Poison Hemlock, and rustlers! It does not matter, dead or missing, you are still out a beef! Purple mint will be up soon and, as long as grass is good, it won't entice cattle; but I spray early when I find big patches of it starting. Take yourself around your place and enjoy the sights of spring!
