Gentry boys win three, girls win one and lose one

GENTRY -- Friday was a tough match for the Lady Pioneers when they hosted the Lady Panthers of Siloam Springs in a non-conference match on the soccer field. And the match was especially hard on Eden Hosteter, Gentry's goalie in the match, with the Lady Panthers getting 10 of their many attempts past her during the 10-0 game in Pioneer Stadium.

The Lady Panthers were up 7-0 at the half and added another three goals in the second half of the match.

Eureka Springs 1

The Lady Pioneers scored a goal in the first and another in the second half when they traveled to Eureka Springs on April 4. The Lady Highlanders managed only a solo goal in the second half of play.

Gentry's goals were kicked in by freshman Katie Ellis and sophomore Madison Ward. Destiny Morales, a junior, was credited with an assist.

Gentry 10

Lead Hill 0

The Gentry boys shut out the visiting team from Lead Hill on Friday, 10-0. The Pioneers scored seven goals in the first half and three more in the second during the conference match.

Solo goals were kicked in by Dillon Nixon, Daniel Thao, Holden Wills and Clay Wills. Kevin Ochoa, a junior, and Braxton Gunneman, a senior, kicked in three each in the match. Clay Wills had two assists. Kelsey Borgeteien-James, Brian Davis, Gunneman and Jentre Pair all had single assists.

Bergman 0

The Pioneers also held Bergman scoreless while racking up six goals during an away conference match on April 6.

Gunneman and Ochoa put two apiece in the net. Clay Wills and Pair each added another. Gunneman and Pair were credited with assists.

Eureka Springs 0

Kevin Ochoa set up Clay Wills for a goal in the second half, giving the Pioneers another victory on April 4. The final was 1-0 in favor of Gentry in the strong defensive match.
