Gentry plans egg hunt on Saturday

GENTRY -- The Gentry Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt will be held in the Gentry City Park (on the south side) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. The event is for children, ages 0-10, and includes prizes and gifts for each child, including a special prize for the winner in each age category.

According to Janie Parks, Chamber director, bicycles have been donated as prizes for the event by Arvest Bank, Grand Savings Bank, Harps Foods and C&J Liquor. One egg in each age-category will have a winning number, and the lucky finder will receive a new bicycle.

New this year will be more games and activities for children. In the past, children waited anxiously for the egg hunt to begin and then, within a few minutes, it was over and children collected their prizes and went home. This year promises to be different, according to Parks. Lori Johnston is organizing additional games and activities for the children.

Also, again helping with this year's event are a number of Gentry High School students. They help with the egg hunt and then with the distribution of prizes.
