Letter to the Editor

Always support our kids

Editor,

Yesterday, April 9, I was privileged to be able to attend the final performance of a musical, "Hot Mikado" by David Hall, which was performed by several students of Gentry High School. I just want to say that this was a wonderful display of the great talent that our students have. They were just superb in every way. The music, their speaking lines and the choreography were without flaw -- they didn't miss a beat. They were accompanied by very talented musicians, a pianist and members of the high school band.

I just want to say that these are our finest! These are our future! These kids were examples of extreme talent and absolute cooperation. Without the cohesion they displayed, they wouldn't have been the successful participants of this program. And, of course, the faculty members and parents are to be commended as well.

I believe that we should be wholeheartedly supporting our kids and their activities, no matter what school they represent or what activity they are participating in, whether it be musical programs, art displays or sports events.

As I said before, these are our kids and they are our future. It is true that whenever they graduate most of them will go on to other places in the world. But wherever they go and whenever someone asks them where they are from, it is my hope that they will fondly say, "I'm from Gentry, Arkansas, the best small town in the U.S.A."

Always support our kids!
