Lions beat Bobcats, fall to Tigers and Saints

GRAVETTE -- The lead went back and forth between the Gravette Lions and Prairie Grove Tigers on Saturday, but Prairie Grove scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take home an 8-2 win in the non-conference game.

Jonah Keener took the loss for the Gravette Lions after pitching six and a third innings, giving up seven runs, three hits, and striking out four. Kilby Roberts went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lions in hits.

Gravette scored a run in the first when Kilby Roberts made it home on a passed ball. Roberts scored again in the bottom of the third when Kenton Tajchman singled to the shortstop. Roberts got on both times with singles to right field.

On Friday, the Lions fought off a Bobcat attack to eventually win the league game, 7-5.

Gravette took the lead in the second inning when Kenton Tajchman grounded out but brought in Hunter Cole, who had doubles as leadoff batter in the inning.

The Lions scored another three runs in the sixth on a single by Dylan Gruver, a triple by Brodie Parsons and a single by William Owens.

Hunter Cole pitched seven innings for Gravette, giving up five runs, eight hits and striking out four.

Dalton Cook, Tajchman, Gruver, Owens, Parsons, Cole and Dalton Bass each drove in a run in the game.

Gravette racked up six stolen bases.

The visiting Saints of Shiloh Christian held the Lions to one run on four hits April 10 to overcome the Lions, 12-1.

Gravette's only run came in the fifth when Kilby Roberts singled to center field and drove in Mason Dagley, who had walked.

Brodie Parsons took the loss for Gravette. He threw four innings, allowed six runs, eight hits, struck out three and walked one.
