Pioneers lose two on the road last week

GENTRY -- On the heels of an 8-7 win over Huntsville on April 7, the Gentry baseball team fell to Pea Ridge and Prairie Grove on the road last week by scores of 14-1 and 10-2, respectively.

Gentry's only run against Pea Ridge on April 10 came in the fourth when Sean Pierce hit a solo home run to right field. Gentry had only two other hits in the game, one by Ayden Smartt and another by Myles McFerron.

The Pioneers were mercy ruled with the game ending after 4 1/2 innings.

At Prairie Grove on Thursday, the Tigers had scored nine runs before the Pioneers made it on the board with their only two runs in the sixth.

Carlos Alvarez Del Castillo singled and later scored on a wild pitch. Myles McFerron also singled and later made it home on a Sean Pierce bunt single which went into right field.

Gentry had seven hits in the game, Prairie Grove, 14. Prairie Grove picked up another run in the bottom of the sixth for the 10-2 victory.
