GENTRY -- Robin Gregory, representative from the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, spoke with the participants of the Gentry Public Library summer reading program, Build a Better World, on July 17, about the precipitation cycle, the route household water takes from our homes all the way to the oceans and the importance of keeping our water clean.

The children received a workbook and activity materials for the Clean Water Raingers, an IRWP group of which all of the children are now members. Lastly, the children made bracelets with different colored beads representing the water cycle. For more information about the IRWP, visit www.irwp.org.

Monday, July 24, was the final program of the Gentry Public Library summer reading program, and it was held at the Gentry City Park from 2 to 4 p.m. It included a firetruck waterspout, bubbles, face painting and hot dogs. Children were urged to dress for getting wet.
