GENTRY -- The Gentry Lions Club held its monthly meeting in the city park on July 24, and club members enjoyed a picnic meal and music from the Old Town String Band of Gravette.

Following the meal, Paula Moray was inducted as a new member of the Gentry club by outgoing president Roberta DeFraga.

Bill Mattler, member of the Gravette Lions Club and the Lions District 7-I zone chairman, then installed the new Gentry Lions Club officers in a special ceremony which included lighting candles on spokes of a wagon wheel to illustrate the importance of each officer doing his or her part for the overall success of the club.

The new Gentry Lions Club officers are Lonnie Moll, president; Roberta DeFraga, first vice president; Eugenia Mayen-Montoya, second vice president; Dr. Ashish Mathur, treasurer; Howard Allen, tail twister; Ricardo Mayen, lion tamer; Pragya Mathur, Marc Burden and Randy Moll, board of directors.

The Gentry club, which had for a time struggled due to low membership numbers, has grown much over the past year and continues to grow. The club serves local needs by providing sight-related services such as eye exams and glasses for those in need of eye services who cannot afford them. The club also sponsors numerous other sight-related charities.
