Nine pageants scheduled Gravette Day

Miss Gravette Torie Dixon and Miss Teen Gravette Cori Beth Overstreet will be ending their year's reign and giving up their crowns at the 2017 Gravette Day pageant competitions August 12.

Nine separate pageants, for entrants up to age 21, will be features of the Gravette Day activities. These pageants are Pretty Baby, 0-11 months; Tiny Tot, 12-23 months; Little Miss Toddler, 2-3 years; Little Miss Petite, 4-5 years; Little Miss, 6-7 years; Miss Tween, 8-10 years; Miss Preteen, 11-13 years; Miss Teen Gravette, 14-16 years; and Miss Gravette, 17-23 years.

Pageants will begin at 4 p.m. and continue through the evening on the main stage in Kindley Park with the crowning of Miss Teen Gravette scheduled about 7 p.m. and Miss Gravette at 7:15.

Miss Gravette contestants will ride in the Gravette Day parade at noon and will compete that afternoon and evening in three competitions, street wear, formal wear and interview. Winners will be chosen by a panel of three out-of-town judges.

Winner of the Miss Gravette 2017 competition will be awarded a $250 cash prize and the Miss Teen Gravette winner will receive a $100 cash prize. All contestants will receive a goody bag from pageant sponsors.

Damayla Cowan, Miss Gravette 2015, is chairman of the Miss Gravette and Miss Teen Gravette pageant events. She announced pictures of all contestants in these pageants would be taken at a meeting for Miss Teen Gravette contestants at 5 p.m. Tues., August 1, at the First Christian Church of Gravette and a meeting for Miss Gravette contestants at 6 p.m. at the same location.
