— On Monday, July 24, Officer Bryan Smith of the Gravette Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Arkansas Highway 72 East in Gravette. During the traffic stop, consent to search the vehicle was denied by the driver.

Officer Smith then utilized the department's canine officer, K-9 IKKS, who alerted to the driver's side door of the vehicle, giving him probable cause to search it.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a plastic baggie containing a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, a glass pipe with white residue, two separate baggies containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, two glass smoking devices, a multi-colored grinder with a green leafy substance inside, a red bracelet smoking device with burnt residue inside, several baggies used for resale of drugs and a set of black scales with what appeared to be marijuana on top of the scales.

The vehicle's driver, Desire Bien of Gravette, was arrested in connection with nine counts of possession of a controlled substance, a felony; one count of fictitious tags; one count of no insurance; and one count of possession with intent to deliver, a felony.

Chuck Skaggs, Gravette chief of police, praised the efforts of Smith and IKKS, saying, "Officer Smith and K-9 IKKS work tirelessly to protect the citizens of Gravette from drugs coming into our community and we appreciated their efforts."
