To me it seems our nation and leaders have gone plumb crazy! In recent months and years, all logic and common sense has been abandoned. Instead, our people rally in support of the most ridiculous opinions and persuasions of our day.

Yes, I'll say it: "We have become absolute fools!" I would use other descriptors, too, but do not wish to demean those to whom those descriptors by definition apply and associate them with the foolishness which is rampant in our nation and among our people today.

Where do I start? How about accepting transgender folks into the military? From what I've read, the president has been attempting to ban transgender folks from entering the military because of the tremendous cost of hormone shots and other medical and psychological treatments often associated with the "condition." People are in an uproar and it appears that Trump's plan is doomed to failure because it would be discrimination to have such a ban.

What I wonder is how people with even minor physical disabilities can be rejected when transgender folks, who claim to have been born with the wrong anatomy, cannot be rejected.

And what about age? I've asked the Marine Corps recruiters to sign me up numerous times in the last few years when I walk past their booths at the high schools. When I tell the recruiters my age, they smile and tell me I cannot join. I wonder: "Why, if I could get a 30-year mortgage at 99, can I not join the Marine Corps at 62? It's discrimination based on age and my lack of physical fitness to do more than my "one" push up each day! Shouldn't the Marine Corps accommodate my age and level of fitness and let me ride and put my rucksack on an ATV for those long marches? Of course, if the Marines took me, that would be foolish!

Our nation's misguided foolishness doesn't stop there. Non-biological parents can be listed on birth certificates which list the names of biological parents, men can have babies if they happen to have female anatomy, bathrooms might soon have "?" posted on the doors, and the list goes on.

It grieves me that children are not children until they are born and those born a long time ago have no value and purpose when they become frail or suffer from dementia.

We can no longer call addicts addicts, drunks drunks or criminals criminals. Instead they just happen to have a drug addiction, be habitually intoxicated or convicted of involvement in some activity which society deems inappropriate.

Marriage, which has been a union of a man and a woman for thousands of years, is now also, thanks to the foolish opinion of one court, the union of same-sex partners and, likely soon, multiple partners of any sex. I wouldn't be surprised if people don't soon cry out for the right to marry their dogs!

We demand the removal of the 10 Commandments from public places but cry out when people steal and commit murder. We teach evolution in our public schools and fail to understand why our children live like animals. We object to the teaching of Biblical doctrine but defend the teaching of the Koran and other religious books.

The craziness of our age defies reason and logic. It's inconsistent. It makes no sense to those who can still think for themselves and are not molded into blind acceptance of what is preached to them by the media, our government, our schools and society. It's a false religion -- a religion of fools -- which demands blind faith even though they object to religion and faith.

How do I explain it? How can I understand the foolishness of our times? The best answer I can find is in Romans 1:22: "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools...." You can read the full explanation in Romans 1:18ff. Look it up!
