— Though many may not have known it and few officially observed it, Aug. 2 was National Coloring Book Day and the day was observed at the Gentry Public Library with both adults and children coming in to participate by coloring a coloring book page or two.

The day started in 1970 when a coloring book company published a coloring book for adults. Since then, coloring for both children and adults has grown and the day's popularity has increased as well.

Only a few libraries in the state observed the day, according to Kevin Johnston, Gentry's mayor. And Gentry was one of them.
