— The Iva Jane Peek Library in Decatur received several new children's books from the Arkansas State Library in Little Rock on Aug. 3.

"The Arkansas State Library is pleased to provide the Decatur Public Library with the enclosed books, which were a part of the Publisher's Exhibit," said Carolyn Ashcraft, state librarian. "We hope you (Decatur Library) can use them to supplement your local library collection."

The Arkansas State Library provides books to smaller communities who recently suffered catastrophic losses to their collection due to severe weather or floods. The leftover materials were distributed to other facilities, like the Decatur Public Library, who are always in need of new stock.

"We received 30 brand-new books from the state library," said Karen Jones, Iva Jane Peek librarian. "If I had to purchase these books, it would cost around $400. I appreciate the state library's donation."

The new children's books will go on display for a few weeks before going into the library's permanent collection.
