— SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Changes are coming to the city clerk's office in Sulphur Springs. Codi Bates was appointed to be the new city clerk at the town's August council meeting.

Bates is a local resident who recently worked at Glenn Duffy Elementary School for 2 ½ years as a paraprofessional in special education.

Along with the new clerk, also comes a change in office hours. The new office hours will allow the clerk to better serve the city's customers with a more productive and set work schedule, and it will allow the clerk to have uninterrupted time to accomplish the parts of her job that require computer entry and mailing out water and sewer bills.

New public office hours for customers to see the city clerk are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday hours will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Bates said customers may still pay water bills at other times by depositing payment in the secured lockbox outside the city offices at the old school building's main entrance.

"I check the box each morning," Bates said.
