— With the school board's approval of a guaranteed maximum price document prepared by Flintco, construction manager for the project, on Monday, Aug. 21, construction has started on the new classroom facility to be built at the Gentry Intermediate School campus.

The board, on Aug. 21, approved a GMP document with a guaranteed maximum price for the new facility, including a contingency fund of $175,000 and a total maximum price of $9,284,888.

According to Jason Barrett, transportation and maintenance supervisor for the school district, salvaging and use of the front doors from the old school facility (now demolished) will save the district approximately $39,000 on the building project.

The district will receive assistance funding for the classroom project from Arkansas Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation, making it possible for the district to complete the project with the funding it now has available.

Barrett said the construction project was on schedule, with work to begin last week after the approval of maximum prices for the project.
