COLCORD (Okla.) -- The Decatur Lady Bulldogs' losing streak continued as they traveled to Colcord, Okla., to participate in the Colcord High School's Basketball Jamboree Dec. 7-9 at Hornet Arena in Colcord. There they faced three formidable Oklahoma foes, the Colcord Lady Hornets, Saline Lady Wildcats and Westville Lady Yellowjackets.

First up for Decatur were the Lady Hornets Dec. 7. As the opening tipoff went to Decatur, it began to look like they might have a chance at a victory as the Lady Bulldogs took control of the first quarter, posting an 8-6 lead going into the second quarter. But the first quarter dominance proved to be the only time Decatur would lead in this contest. Colcord outscored Decatur 17-4 in the second quarter, posting a 23-12 lead going into the halftime break.

The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Hornets were evenly matched during the third quarter, but Colcord outscored Decatur 11-10. But for the Lady Bulldogs it was too little too late as the Lady Hornets widened the Decatur deficit by 20, earning a 47-27 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

Decatur also lost its battle with the Salina Lady Wildcats by an equally wide margin Dec. 8 (no score was reported for this game).

The final game of the tournament for Decatur was with the Westville Lady Yellowjackets Dec. 9. As with the Lady Hornets two days earlier the Lady Bulldogs jumped out in front in the early stages of the first quarter. But as the quarter ended, a last-second shot by Westville landed in the basket and put the Lady Yellowjackets in control of the contest by a mere two points. Unlike the Colcord contest, Decatur managed to keep pace with Westville throughout the second quarter, falling behind by only six at the break.

The final half proved too much for the struggling Lady Bulldogs. Westville went on a run, outscoring Decatur 12-3 to take a commanding 30-15 lead going into the final eight minutes of the contest. Unfortunately, the fourth quarter proved the Lady Bulldogs' undoing as a knee injury early in the quarter sidelined Decatur starter Deysi Rubi. Shortly thereafter, Paige Vann, Decatur's second leading scorer, fouled out of the game, leaving only Samantha Skaggs, Abby Tilley, Kaylee Morales, Destiny Mejia and Airbus Dungsungnoen to carry the team with no reserve players.

Never giving up, the Lady Bulldogs tried to regain their composure, but the Lady Yellowjackets were simply too strong as they overpowered the Decatur Lady Bulldogs 45-17 for the win.
