Maysville Extension Homemakers Club News

Beverly Whiteside hosted the Maysville Extension Homemakers Club Christmas party again this year. Her home was beautifully adorned with elements from nature like pinecones and pheasant feathers. Members and guests dined on baked ham, with potato casserole and an abundance of side dishes and desserts.

The Maysville EH Club chose the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter as its club project this year. Club members brought Christmas gifts for the children, which were delivered to the shelter by Gary and Gwen Singleton. Other projects for the shelter have been planned for the coming year.

According to its website, since opening in 1993, the Children's Shelter has cared for more than 8,200 children across the state of Arkansas. Nearly 6,000 valid cases of child abuse and neglect are reported in Arkansas each year -- nearly 900 of them right here in Northwest Arkansas. The shelter's mission is to provide a safe haven, high-quality care and hope for the future to children who have been abandoned, abused or neglected.

The shelter is located on Vaughn Road in Highfill, just west of Bentonville.
