Bulldogs lose in final regular season game

DECATUR -- In the final game of the 2016-17 season, the Decatur Bulldogs traveled to Mulberry Feb. 10. and faced a tough Yellowjacket defense.

The Bulldogs fell behind early in the contest and struggled to catch up. Decatur was able to mount a run late in the second quarter to cut Mulberry's lead in half going into the break.

But Decatur was not able to regain its composure in the second half and was never able to even the score. Mulberry claimed the victory, 46-28.

The Decatur Bulldogs finished the 2016-17 regular season with an overall record of 8-14 and 2-8 in the 1A district 1 race for a fifth-place finish going into the district tournament.

The Bulldogs traveled to Lead Hill Feb. 13 to participate in the first round of the 1A Northwest district 1 play-offs where they faced the Lead Hill Tigers (score was unavailable at press time). If they were able to defeat the Tigers, the Bulldogs would advance to the second round Feb. 16 at 8:30 p.m. in the high school gym at Lead Hill and earn an automatic berth in regional play-off.
