GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers finished their regular season with a 48-36 win over the visiting Shiloh Christian Lady Saints on Friday.

Gentry had a slight edge, 13-12, after the first quarter of play. Chastery Fuamatu put in two baskets and two free throws, Eden Hosteter hit a two-pointer and a three. Haley Hays also put one in under the basket.

In the second quarter, Hosteter put in two from outside the three-point line, and Hannah Boss put in four free throws and a tw0-pointer to help the Lady Pioneers to a 27-20 lead at the half.

Fuamatu, Boss and Madison Ward each put points on the board in the third, to give the Gentry girls a 38-26 lead at the start of the final quarter.

Gentry coach Toby Tevebaugh's strategy to hold on to the ball and draw the foul in the fourth appeared to be in trouble after several turnovers to the Lady Saints, but the Lady Pioneers did draw fouls and hit eight of 11 at the free-throw line to take the 48-36 win.

Fuamatu led the Lady Pioneers with 17 points in the game. Boss had 12, Hosteter had 11 (all in the first half), Ward had 5, Hays 2, and Jaydon Jarnagan 1.

The Gentry girls finished their season 13-10 overall and 8-10 in conference play.

The Saints outscored the Pioneers in all but the final quarter for the 72-58 win in the final game of the regular season at Gentry. Though Austin Morris, Cole Cripps, Jon Faulkenberry and Evan Folker were able to get the ball under the basket, the taller Shiloh players made it difficult to get off good shots.

Ethan Hammond maneuvered around his opponents to bring the ball down the court, but shooting over the Shiloh players was a challenge.

Gentry finished the season 12-10 overall and 10-8 in conference play.
