Gravette girls fall to Berryville, beat Pea Ridge

— After a heart-breaking loss to Berryville on Friday, the Gravette Lady Lions came back, and back from behind, to defeat the Lady Blackhawks of Pea Ridge in Saturday's consolation round.

The Lady Lions were in the game against the Lady Bobcats of Berryville on Friday all the way up to the end. The game was tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter. It was 32-31, Berryville up, at the half. At the end of the third quarter, it was tied again at 49 all, But, in the final quarter, the Lady Bobcats pulled away and took a 68-61 lead to the bank for the win and then on to take the conference championship.

On Saturday, the Lady Lions got off to a slow start against the Lady Blackhawks of Pea Ridge. The Gravette girls were down by one at the end of the first quarter and by three, 25-22, at the half. But, like they often have done, the Lady Lions mounted a comeback and were within a basket at the end of three, 40-38, and pulled ahead in the final quarter to take the game by three, 52-49, and third place in the conference tournament.

The Lady Lions are scheduled to play Pottsville in the Regional Tournament on Thursday at West Fork. Game time was listed at 4 p.m.

Pea Ridge 51, Gravette 25

The Lions lost their bid for a conference championship on Friday when they faced the Pea Ridge Blackhawks in the conference tournament at Berryville, 51-25.

The Lions make their opening bid in the regional tournament today when they face the Pottsville Apaches. Game time was listed at 8:30 p.m. at West Fork High School.
