Opera set at Northside Elementary

Decatur's Northside Elementary will host the Tulsa Opera performance of "Little Red's Most Unusual Day," based on the story line of Little Red Riding Hood, at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 27. Sulphur Library Fundraiser

A fundraiser to benefit the Sulphur Springs library will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the old school cafeteria. All you can eat of beans, potato soup and cornbread will be served at a cost of $7. The library is also selling a number of children's books, some of which are valuable. These books will be on display and will sell for one-half the Internet price. All proceeds will go to purchase computers, books and DVDs for the library. Donations of books published in 2005 or after and of DVDs are welcomed. The library is open from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Prom Breakfast Fundraisers

The Gentry High School junior and senior students, along with the Parent Prom Breakfast Committee, will be holding several fundraisers prior to the prom on April 22 to purchase door prizes for the Prom Breakfast. They are as follows: Feb. 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harps in Gentry; March 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Zaxbys in Siloam Spings; and on March 14, an Indian Taco Dinner. A percentage of the total sales at Harps and at Zaxbys during the time period will be given to support the prom breakfast. The Indian Taco Dinner sales will begin at 3 p.m. at the concession building on the Gentry High School football field. The meals, including the taco and tea or lemonade, will be $6 and will be sold until they run out or people stop coming. Desserts will also be available for $1. Miss Springtime Pageant

Miss Springtime Pageant, for children with special needs, will be held in the Gentry High School auditorium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. Girls, ages birth to 21, and boys, ages birth to 8, may enter the pageant. Children, birth to age 5, will be admitted free. Those 6 and older will be charged $2 each. NAGS Meet Feb. 27

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet 6 p.m. on Feb. 27 in the Rotary Room at the Bentonville Public Library, located at 405 S. Main Street in Bentonville. Jerry Nichols of the Pea Ridge Historical Society will present a program on the early history of Pea Ridge, a community that began before Arkansas statehood in 1836. GFA Food Pantry to open Feb. 27 in Gentry

First Assembly of God in Gentry will launch the GFA Food Pantry on Feb. 27. The church partnered with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Several other Gentry churches plan to partner with the new pantry. Tentative hours will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays.

Library Commission Openings

Three positions are open for members on the Gravette Public Library Commission. Commission members must live within the Gravette School District. Persons interested in the position should contact Library supervisor, Karen Benson, at 479-787-6955, or Gravette City Hall at 479-787-5757, or they may apply in person at the Library, on Main Street, or at City Hall.

Lions Club meetings held in Gravette and Gentry

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas 59 North in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Tired Iron Club meets third Tuesday of month

Tired Iron of the Ozarks antique engine and tractor club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the club's showgrounds, located at 13344 Taylor Orchard Road in Gentry. For more information, visit the club's website at www.tiredironoftheozarks.org.

Gravette Kiwanis Club plans breakfast meetings

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services planned

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW meetings first Tuesday of month

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
