— Kyle Thomas was promoted to the rank of patrol corporal by the Gentry Police Department on Friday. He assumed his new supervisory responsibilities on Friday.

Thomas has served on the Gentry Police Department since June of 2013 and, according to Chief Smith, "has done an outstanding job in performing his duties as a patrol officer."

Smith said Thomas "has been recognized in the department for always being ready to take on additional duties and assist other officers and the public whenever the need arose."

Smith called Thomas "an obvious choice" to take on new leadership responsibilities in the department.

"He has become a valuable member of this department and our city, and I look forward to his service to our citizens for many years to come," Smith said.

Thomas was congratulated by Smith and Sergeant Clay Stewart upon his promotion.
