Gentry Senior Center News

GENTRY -- With the new year here, what better way to start it off than to join the Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center! The center offers many fun and healthy activities in which to participate.

On Mondays, there is a gospel sing, and members are urged to bring their instruments and their singing voices, whether good or bad, and enjoy the time of fellowship.

Monday through Friday, members can get competitive with Wii Bowling. And, if Bingo is more appealing, the Center's van takes members to the Senior Activity Center at Siloam Springs on the second Monday afternoon of each month to play Bingo for fun and prizes.

Those looking for a healthy start to the new year can come in for a low-impact PEPPI exercise class each Tuesday and Thursday morning. Members can stay for lunch if they choose and join in an afternoon watercolor painting class.

Card players will find friendly and fun card games offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with a break for lunch.

Meals -- breakfasts and lunches -- are served daily. The balanced meals are delivered to the Center or to homes, hot and fresh, from the kitchen at the Siloam Springs Senior Center by Gentry's volunteer drivers.

On the third Thursday of each month, members go out to a restaurant of their choice for an evening of food, fun and fellowship. And the last Friday of the month is potluck. Members bring their favorite dishes to share and celebrate birthdays of the month.

Members also take in a monthly movie at the Siloam Springs Cinema 6 with a discounted price for an admission ticket, popcorn and a soft drink.

The Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday of each week (except on holidays). Membership is for adults with 60 or more years of life experiences to share.

To join the Center or learn more, stop by at 121 E. Main Street or give Jackie Bader, the Center's manager, a call at 479-736-0378.
