Letter to the Editor

Editor,

I would not presume to assert that the Freedom From Religion Foundation has no right to exist. One of the unalienable rights granted to us by our Creator is the right to reject Him, all or in part. That point would never be mine to make, in a letter or discussion.

The letter of June 17, 2016, from Patrick Elliot of the FFRF was a shock to many people in the community of Gentry. "Scheduled prayers" were noted by a "concerned citizen" at graduation time, and this is their right -- to be so concerned.

The faith held by me that causes me to pen this letter is not inherited, but rational. Evidence -- of a forensic nature -- causes me to believe. I do not have all the answers -- but the weight of the facts seen would make me to be unreasonable if I denied the existence of God and the benefit of prayer offered to Him.

Psalm 19:1-3 reminds us that God Himself was the First One to allow "Freedom from Religion" -- He speaks (v.1-2), but that "voice is not heard" (v.3).
