Decatur Fire Department responds to fire at Crystal Lake Farms

DECATUR -- Units from the Decatur, Gentry, Gravette and Centerton Fire Departments responded to a reported fire at a local business on the east side of Decatur on Jan. 15.

A 911 call at 7:49 a.m. reported a possible fire coming from the roof of the main office and hatchery of Crystal Lake Farms at 1200 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur.

Decatur fire units, first on the scene, reported no smoke or fire showing from the structure but did report a strong gas smell coming from one of the heating units in the hatchery. After shutting the gas off, the fire department used a thermal imaging camera and detected no signs of fire.

No injuries were reported, with only light damage to a few ceiling tiles and insulation in the hatchery structure.
