GENTRY — The beginning of classes is still more than a month away, but band members at Gentry High School are already at work learning new music and new marching routines for the upcoming marching season.
Each morning, before the heat of the day settles in, the beat of the rhythm can be heard coming from the parking lot north of Pioneer Stadium at the high school as Karri Wesson, band director, works with band students in preparation for football games and marching events.
With a corps of drums to keep the beat, the rest of the band has been practicing new music and marching to the beat.
The band will be introduced and perform at the Meet the Pioneers event, scheduled for Friday, August 18. A scrimmage football game is planned for the following week, with games beginning on September 1.
