Gravette Church of God

The Church of God (Holiness), located at Fourth and Atlanta in Gravette, will host the group called "Grace" from God's Bible School and College of Cincinnati, Ohio, on Sunday, July 9, at 6 p.m. The public is invited to join in this inspirational evening. For further information, call 479-787-7312.

Head Start Art Show

Gentry Head Start and Early Head Start is inviting the community to its first Community Art Show, featuring artwork of children in the programs, 7 months to 5 years. All proceeds from the show will go to its Dollar Per Child Campaign, the only source of funding for the National Head Start Association. The art show will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, at 208 S. Giles Ave., Gentry.

GSAC Open House

An open house is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 10, at the Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 121 East Main Street, Gentry. The open house will feature a meal, Gospel music, table games, exercise equipment and a chance to meet neighbors and friends. To receive a meal at the open house, call 479-736-0378 before 1 p.m. on Friday, July 7. Meal donations are $3 for those 60 and older and $5 for those under 60.

Decatur UMC Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents, and a USDA Commodity Program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 zip code area. The commodity program requires income information. Seamless Summer Meals

The Seamless Summer Program in Gentry offers free breakfast and lunch meals to children, 18 and under, each weekday, June 5 through July 28 (except the week of July 4th), from 8 to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Gentry Primary School cafeteria. Adult meal prices are $2 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch. Menus are posted on the school website, www.gentrypioneers.com, along with information about transportation to the meal sites.

Decatur Summer Reading

The Iva Jane Peek Public Library in Decatur will host its annual summer reading program beginning in July. The reading program is open to kids, ages 5-9. The program is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 10, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and will continue every Monday and Tuesday throughout the month of July (10-11, 17-18 and 24-25). The library is located on the northwest corner of the four-way stoplight in Decatur (121 N. Main St.). Karen Jones, librarian, is asking that anyone interested in attending this summer event pre-register by calling 479-752-7323.

Highfill VBS

Vacation Bible School is planned at First Baptist Church in Highfill from 6 to 9 p.m., July 9-14, with classes for children, ages nursery through 12th grade. All are welcome to attend.

Library Teen Tuesdays

The Gravette Public Library will host Teen Tuesday events from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the library the second and fourth Tuesday of each month throughout the summer. The Tues., July 11, theme is Blackout Poetry and Tues., July 25, is Board Game Night.

Shoe Distribution

A shoe distribution, hosted by the Samaritan's Feet organization, will be held on Saturday, July 29, at the Gravette Civic Center, 407 Charlotte Street, S.E. Each registered child will receive new socks and a new pair of shoes at no charge. Anyone wishing to register their children may pick up registration forms at the Gravette Public Library.

Gentry Summer Reading

The Gentry Public Library Summer Reading Program continues from 2 to 4 p.m., and runs every Monday through July 24. Activities planned for different age groups include mock stained glass, shadow drawing, silhouette drawing, writing projects, firefighter and police presentations, and, of course, READING. The events are free and open to the public. Several groups, including the local 4-H, Boys and Girls Club and the Girl Scouts, have volunteered to lead the weekly activities. GFA Food Pantry

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is now open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The change from Mondays to Tuesdays allows the center to have fresher produce. The church partnered with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Lions Club Meetings

Gravette Lions Club will meet at 12 noon, Wednesday, July 5, in the open air pavilion at Old Town Park in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Tired Iron Club

Tired Iron of the Ozarks antique engine and tractor club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the club's showgrounds, located at 13344 Taylor Orchard Road in Gentry. For more information, visit the club's website at www.tiredironoftheozarks.org.

Gravette Kiwanis Club

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
