Gravette Bible Camp

A century old spiritual tradition will continue on the campus of Gravette Holiness Bible School from June 27 through July 2. Allan Brown is the speaker. The Craters will sing and minister to the youth. Brown and the Craters are employed at God's Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio. There will be two main services daily at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Brown will be speaking at both services. There will be a special children's segment in the 10:30 service. The youth will meet a 6:45 each evening, while others convene for a prayer service. The first services of the camp will be at 6:45 p.m., June 27. NAGS Meeting

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 26, at Bentonville Public Library. Steve Alexander, a computer systems analyst and programmer, will present a program on tips and tricks in using the Google search engine in genealogy research. All Sports Camp

A sports camp for children, ages pre-K through eighth grade, is set to be held from 6 to 8:15 p.m., Thursday and Friday, June 22-23, at the Highfill City Park. The event includes Bible study and airforce football, kickball, Wiffle ball, soccer, street hockey and more. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend and participate. The event is sponsored by First Baptist Church in Highfill.

Community Block Party

A Community Block Party for all ages is planned from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, in Highfill City Park. The event includes lunch, snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, games, a puppet show, live music and inflatables. The event is free and is sponsored by First Baptist Church in Highfill.

Seamless Summer Meals

The Seamless Summer Program in Gentry offers free breakfast and lunch meals to children, 18 and under, each weekday, June 5 through July 28 (except the week of July 4th), from 8 to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Gentry Primary School cafeteria. Adult meal prices are $2 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch. Menus are posted on the school website, www.gentrypioneers.com, along with information about transportation to the meal sites.

'A Walk in the Park'

The Gravette Public Library is sponsoring "A Walk in the Park" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at Old Town Park in Gravette. The event, a kickoff for the library's summer reading program, will feature a picture book walk through the park and a related craft. Those attending may sign up for summer reading clubs for their age groups and for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program for preschool children. Gravette police officers will be on hand to provide children with ID cards, and Gravette firefighters will conduct tours of their smoke house. A hamburger fry, conducted by members of the Gravette library advisory board, will provide hamburger meals with chips and a drink for $5.

Sulphur Days

Sulphur Days is planned in Sulphur Springs on Saturday, June 24. All are invited to come and enjoy the many events in the park all day long in celebration of Independence Day. The event begins with the 8 a.m. pancake breakfast and fishing derby and ends with a spectacular fireworks show after the sun goes down. Between the two, visitors can enjoy a car and tractor show with trophies for the best entries, a dunk tank, raffle prizes, horseshoe pitch, food vendors, kids' jump house and water slide, and the museum raffle. Visitors can get a barbecued dinner and join the treasure hunt, all to celebrate the rich history of Sulphur Springs and of the freedoms enjoyed in the United States.

Freedom Fest in Gentry

Barrett Baber will be the entertainer to lead up to the giant fireworks display in Gentry City Park on Tuesday, July 4th. Also performing during the afternoon and early evening will be Southern Traditions Bluegrass Band, River's Edge Band, Trumann Rail Boys and Kaitlin Carlson. Other events and activities include: a car show; tiny tot pageant; Miss Gentry pageant; activities for children such as inflatables, a bicycle and tricycle parade, Wild Wilderness Safari animals, Kid's Zone and games; and lots of festival food. Decatur Summer Reading

The Iva Jane Peek Public Library in Decatur will host its annual summer reading program beginning in July. The reading program is open to kids, ages 5-9. The program is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 10, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and will continue every Monday and Tuesday throughout the month of July (10-11, 17-18 and 24-25). The library is located on the northwest corner of the four-way stoplight in Decatur (121 N. Main St.). Library Book Sale

A book sale to benefit the Gravette Public Library will be held Saturday, July 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Books for all ages will be on display in the former Gravette library building at 407 Charlotte Street, S.E., just east of the civic center. Book sales will be held at this location the first Saturday of each month throughout the summer.

Highfill VBS

Vacation Bible School is planned at First Baptist Church in Highfill from 6 to 9 p.m., July 9-14, with classes for children, ages nursery through 12th grade. All are welcome to attend.

Mason Valley Baptist VBS

Mason Valley Baptist Church, Highfill, will be having VBS for children, 5 and up, on June 25-30, Sunday through Friday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The theme is "Galactic Starveyors," based on Colossians 1:15-16. The motto is "Searching the visible, discovering the invisible." The church is located halfway between Highfill and Vaughn, on Arkansas Highway 12. For more information, call Bro. Shoe Distribution

A shoe distribution, hosted by the Samaritan's Feet organization, will be held on Saturday, July 29, at the Gravette Civic Center, 407 Charlotte Street, S.E. Each registered child will receive new socks and a new pair of shoes at no charge. Anyone wishing to register their children may pick up registration forms at the Gravette Public Library. Forms should be completed and returned to the library by June 24.

Gentry Summer Reading

The Gentry Public Library Summer Reading Program continues from 2 to 4 p.m., and runs every Monday through July 24 (excluding July 3). Activities planned for different age groups include mock stained glass, shadow drawing, silhouette drawing, writing projects, firefighter and police presentations, and, of course, READING. The events are free and open to the public. Several groups, including the local 4-H, Boys and Girls Club and the Girl Scouts, have volunteered to lead the weekly activities. Other youth organizations interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the library at 479-736-2054.

GFA Food Pantry

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is now open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The change from Mondays to Tuesdays allows the center to have fresher produce. The church partnered with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Lions Club Meetings

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas 59 North in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Tired Iron Club

Tired Iron of the Ozarks antique engine and tractor club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the club's showgrounds, located at 13344 Taylor Orchard Road in Gentry. For more information, visit the club's website at www.tiredironoftheozarks.org.

Gravette Kiwanis Club

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
