GRAVETTE -- Members of the John E. Tracy American Legion post at Gravette gathered on the grassy area behind the Civic Center Tuesday evening, June 20, for their annual flag retirement ceremony. The ceremony is held each year to properly dispose of flags that are worn, faded and otherwise unfit for use.

American Legion and Auxiliary members and their families attended the event and some assisted officers of the post with the flag burning. Post chaplain Rose Crose opened the ceremony with prayer and Dave Malczynski, post commander; Bill Crose, first vice commander; Mark Russow, second vice commander; and Teddy Selby, sergeant-at-arms, participated in the retirement ritual.

Legion member Bill Mattler served as post photographer for the event and adjutant Mike Carnahan grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for the meal following the ceremony.
