— The Sons of Inferno, Highway 59 chapter, motorcycle club held its first annual Mardi Gras party Saturday evening at the Fire Station 29 Pub and Grill in Gravette. The club had planned a ride that day to benefit the homebound elderly in the community but, because of the chilly weather, few riders showed up. Several riders did drop by the restaurant to make donations to the cause, according to Byron Warren, president of the club.

About $400 was raised at the evening's activities, including an $85 cash donation from the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and a $50 donation from the Sons of Inferno, Sheridan Chapter. The Loners Motorcycle Club donated personal care items for the elderly, including shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

The restaurant was decorated with a Mardi Gras theme, Mardi Gras beads were given to those who attended and a traditional king cake was served at the end of the evening. Slices of the cake were sold for $5 each and the recipient of the slice with a baby figurine inside won a hotel stay and meal credit at Cherokee Casino, West Siloam Springs. A number of door prizes were awarded to those making donations to the cause. Guitarist Clint Scrivner entertained guests at the party.

Other sponsors of the event included Main Street merchants The Junken Sailor, Country Man Leather and Sophie's Boutique, Dr. Ty Russell (chiropractor), HQ Construction, Brothers Jewelers of Siloam Springs and Bikers Leather Stop.
