Career Day set for Friday at Gentry High School

GENTRY -- Gentry High School will host its second annual career fair on Friday, March 10. Approximately 63 career fields will be represented at this year's fair, up from the 35 last year.

This year, students will attend eight scheduled informational sessions related to their career interests. A variety of careers will be represented, including those which may be entered immediately after high school graduation and those requiring a college or graduate school education. A few of the career fields which will be represented include the medical professions, logistics, law, education, hospitality, welding, public works, law enforcment, fire fighting, emergency management and engineering.

Information will be available in the gym from colleges, schools and the military; and representatives from many local businesses (McKees, Tyson, JB Hunt, Siloam Springs Regional Hospital, Mercy Hospital) will also be available in the gym to provide information to students about careers they have available and what is required to apply for these jobs.

"The career fair creates a critical link between the classroom and the workplace by allowing students to explore various career options in order for them to make informed educational and career choices," said Kristen Smartt, an organizer of the special event.
