GENTRY -- The Pioneers scored the first run in a Feb. 28 home non-conference game against the visiting Panthers of Siloam Springs, but that was the end of their scoring. The Panthers, on the other hand, went on to score five in the second, two in the third and four more in the fifth to take the 11-1 win in five innings.

Gentry's only score came in the first when Ayden Smartt singled on a line drive to center and stole his way around the bases, making it home on a passed ball. From then on it was the Panthers' game. Siloam Springs took the lead in the top of the second and built on that lead the balance of the game.

Smartt had Gentry's only hit and run in the game. Two other Pioneers -- Carlos Alvarez Del Castillo and Peyton Wright -- made it on through walks.

Pitching for Gentry were Smartt, Damon Phillips, Jacob Lothes and Myles McFerron. Phillips was credited with the loss. Smartt struck out three and McFerron two in their brief time on the mound.
