Gravette girls stopped by Rogers Heritage

GRAVETTE -- Though the Lady Lions were able to come back in the bottom of the seventh and beat the Lady Wildcats in the Feb. 27 game against Springdale Har-Ber, 4-3, they weren't able to come back and defeat the Lady War Eagles of Rogers Heritage in an away game on March 2 and lost the non-league game, 3-2.

Gravette scored first in the fourth when Sumer Kaba walked and Robin Davis reached on an error, allowing Kaba to score. But Rogers answered with its only runs in the game, making it 3-1, on three hits and two Gravette errors in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Lions tried to recover from the damage in the fifth when Jaki Chalk, who singled with a line drive to right, was brought home on a Cally Kildow triple to right field.

The rest of the game was all defense with only one player getting on base via a walk and being stranded there.

Kildow and Chalk had the only hits for Gravette, with one each and Kildow's being a triple. Davis and Kildow had Gravette's only RBIs.

Kildow pitched for Gravette, throwing 85 pitches and striking out eight Rogers' batters. She walked one and allowed one earned run.
