— It wasn't a pretty game on Thursday when the Elkins Elks came to Gravette to face the Lions. The game turned into a slug fest, with plenty of errors to go around, but Gravette came out on top, 17-11, in the 6 1/2 inning game.

Elkins scored solo runs in the first and fourth and then added two in the fifth, five in the sixth and two in the seventh, but Gravette took the lead in its first at bat, scoring three in the first, another in the second, four in both the third and fourth innings, one in the fifth and four more in the bottom of the sixth.

Gravette had 19 hits in the game, including four by Brady Moorman and three each by Brodie Parsons and Nick Newbill. Newbill hit two doubles. Dylan Gruver, Parsons and Mason Dagley each had doubles as well.

Hunter Cole pitched four innings in the game and struck out seven. Jonah Keener and Brodie Parsons shared the mound during the last three innings.
